E-Bike Safety Register

All of our Basis, EMU and Dallingridge e-bikes are listed on the E-Bike Safety Register, which means every model we supply has been independently verified as meeting the highest recognised safety and compliance standards in the UK. This register exists to protect riders, retailers and the wider industry by ensuring that only legally compliant, properly constructed e-bikes are sold through responsible channels, and we are proud that our ranges are included.

As the e-bike market has grown, so has the number of unsafe and illegal products entering circulation. Many of these bikes use uncertified batteries, incorrect chargers or motors that exceed legal limits, creating serious fire, safety and insurance risks. By registering our Basis, EMU and Dallingridge models, we are making a clear commitment to safety, legality and transparency. Our customers can be confident that the e-bikes they buy from us are built to the correct standards, are safe to use and are fully compliant with UK regulations.

Being on the E-Bike Safety Register also means our bikes are recognised by insurers, retailers and enforcement bodies as legitimate, compliant products. This helps protect our customers from issues such as invalid insurance, warranty problems or the risk of a bike being deemed illegal to use on public roads.

When you choose a Basis, EMU or Dallingridge e-bike from us, you are choosing more than just performance and value, you are choosing a bike that has been verified, approved and registered for safety, compliance and long-term peace of mind.

All E-Bike Positive retailers and mechanics have committed to the following best practice:

  • To sell only road legal e-bikes which are safety-tested and from trusted suppliers, and which come with full safety information and user instructions.
  • To repair only road legal e-bikes.
  • To repair or modify e-bikes only in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • To ensure that after any repair or modification, the e-bike can be charged and used safely. If this cannot be guaranteed, to refuse to do the work.
  • To supply only safety-tested chargers and batteries from trusted suppliers.
  • To supply only chargers, batteries and other components which are documented to be compatible with each other, and with the e-bike where they will be used.
  • To supply chargers and/or batteries with full safety information and user instructions

Please note that while some of the brands we offer are listed on the Bicycle Association’s E-Bike Safety Register, others may not appear on the register. Participation in the scheme is voluntary and involves a detailed audit process which takes time to complete and carries an associated cost.

The brands currently listed on the register are our own brands, which we have submitted for independent safety audit. As the manufacturer of these brands, we are able to complete the full certification process directly.

For the other brands we supply, these are sourced from well-established manufacturers with proven safety and compliance standards. While they may not appear on the register, we have full confidence that they meet the strict safety and quality standards we require from all bikes we supply.
