We offer throttle electric bikes that can be tested by the DVSA and Single Vehicle Approved as an L1e in the 250W LPM (250Watt Low Powered) Moped category. This process, can take between 2 and 8 weeks. It involves taking the bike to an approved MVSA centre for Single Vehicle Approval tests.

The very latest version of our flagship folding electric bike, the Wisper Tailwind 806 has received a number of additions enabling you to tailor the bike to your own personal requirements.

The Tailwind 806 is the perfect option for campers, caravaners, boating enthusiasts, commuters or for those with restricted storage space. With it’s very low step over height the Tailwind 806 is ideal for a shorter, however the huge adjustment range on the seat post and handlebar stem means the bike can easily be adjusted for the comfort of taller riders. Suitable for riders between 4’6″ and 6’6″!

The Tailwind 806 is a sturdy long range e-bike. With our superb locking mechanism locked you will not notice you are on a folding bike, there is absolutely no frame twist feel when riding. Tailor your Tailwind 806 by choosing your preferred battery range, set-up, add-ons and colour.

Venture Pack Upgrade

Available as an upgrade to both the Tailwind 806 and Tailwind 806 Encore. The Venture pack is designed for riders who like to take the path less ridden and get off the road. Tyres will be changed to Schwalbe Marathon 365 4 seasons and fitted with Tannus puncture protection. A front rack is also included in the pack.

We offer throttle electric bikes that can be tested by the DVSA and Single Vehicle Approved as an L1e in the 250W LPM (250Watt Low Powered) Moped category. This process, can take between 2 and 8 weeks. It involves taking the bike to an approved MVSA centre for Single Vehicle Approval tests. These tests ensure that our standard eBike is safe. Complying with current EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) regulations.

Once these tests are completed, we are presented with a British National Type Approval, Minister’s Approval Certificate bearing your bike’s frame number. This ensures the certificate can only be used in conjunction with specific bikes. The certificate must be kept in a safe place. Just like an MOT certificate, although we and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency will keep a record of your bike’s Type Approval.

Unlike an MOT Certificate, the Single Vehicle Approval Certificate lasts for the lifetime of the bike. This does not need to be renewed.

The use of a full throttle on an electric bicycle is legal in the UK on the condition that the bicycle has been tested, and approved by specific DVSA centres. The correct approval certification must have been issued by the DVSA. The approval certificate must show the bike’s make, model and frame number.

Without the correct certification electric bicycles with a throttle may not legally be used anywhere in the UK where the public has access. This includes private land where a footpath runs across or adjacent to the land.

Extra Information:

  • This Electric Bike will be SUPPLIED ASSEMBLED complete with charger and everything you see included.
  • Upon arrival, simple attachment of the pedals and the straightening of the handlebar will be required.
