Specifically designed for those who may struggle getting onto a bike with a crossbar yet sacrificing little in the way of performance or weight, the Trekking 5 Low-Step is an excellent machine for those who want a reliable, fuel-free companion.

The tried-and tested Bosch Performance Line motor offers up to 65Nm of torque, allowing a swift but smooth take off at the lights or a bit of extra grunt as you get up those hills. The 500Wh battery offers ample range for a day’s riding or getting about town. Where it comes to pedal power, the 9-speed Shimano Alvio drivetrain offers reliable, accurate gear changes and a good ratio range for uphill or down. The Aching HT474 brakes on 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors will stop you in fair weather or foul.

Riding comfort comes from a SR Suntour XCM fork with 63mm of travel, and the 27.5” wheels come with WTB Groov-E low rolling resistance tyres that are good in the wet but won’t hold you back when racing down those hills.

As is to be expected from a German road bike, the devil is in the detail. Topped off with an excellent 20 Lux Trelock headlight and rear light that are wired into the main battery.

Bosch Performance Line

The Performance Line is the most versatile drive system from Bosch. Whether you're on a sporty jaunt through the countryside, commuting to work or cruising on a leisurely outing, it always delivers the right support at the right moment. There are two variants. The Performance Drive Unit provides support with a torque of up to 65 Nm and a maximum speed of 25 km/h and offers a naturally sporty riding sensation. It enables riders to get the most out of outings, even in mountainous terrain. The Performance Speed Drive Unit enables high speeds to be reached even faster, while long distances can be covered with ease. It supports S-Pedelecs up to 45 km/h and will speed riders on their way with a torque of 85 Nm from model year 2021 onwards.
