Haibike SD HardSeven 5.0 2020 Electric Mountain Bike
The eMTB rider will be familiar with the kit this SD HardSeven 5.0 Electric Bike machine possesses but will notice the better responsiveness and smoother riding allowed by the PW-ST motor. The drivetrain is good with a Shimano Deore M6000 10 speed allowing you to push hard beyond the 15.5mph cutout and minimal ‘drag’ from the motor when it is off.
What’s the difference between the 1.0, 1.5, 5.0 and 8.0?
The difference between these machines is more than just price. The HardSeven range is a quality hardtail 27.5” wheel MTB that ranges from the entry-level 1.0 for those who want to get into e-MTB for the first time, while the 8.0 is a high spec machine that will hit your wallet as hard as you hit the trails. The 5.0 is a decent intermediate that will serve you well as you learn to charge up those hills at speeds you may once have down!
Yamaha PW-ST – new for 2020
100 grammes lighter than its 2019 brother, the Yamaha PW-ST is a country mile better. With four cadence sensors in the case, it can deliver power at speeds of more than 100RPM, a limitation of its predecessors.
In addition there is the new ‘auto-mode’ that allows you to leave the bike to decide as to the power setting it needs for different terrains. The unit can also detect how much power to deliver when starting so you don’t have wheel spin or pull a wheelie when you pull away.
This is all controlled with the Yamaha SideSwitch controller that is discreet and doesn’t show you so many parameters you’re distracted from the job at hand – having a blast on the hills!
