Bicycle Insurance at E-Bikes Direct Through Seopa

Insure & Protect Your Electric Bike at E-Bikes Direct!

Cycling has evolved significantly, especially in light of the current climate, into a signifficant form of transport for the masses, a solution in fact. Many see cycling as their primary mode of transport, relying on a bicycle day in, day out to get them where they need to be, whether that's the 9-5 office or university lecture... Needing a reliable, well built machine of course comes at a cost as does the maintenance, and we appreciate there's never a good time to be out of pocket or without a mode of transport.

No more unexpected financial blowbacks. Cycle insurance is a great way of protecting you against the cost of damage, vandalism or worse, theft! You'll find some plans even cover you financially against damages or injury towards others.

What, Exactly Is Covered Under Bicycle Insurance?

Now, insurance plans vary in terms of cover qualification, T&C's and your personal preference, starting with a simple question  "Would you like to cover yourself, your bicycle, or both?"

Personal Cover

Legal Cover

For example, if you were to be involved in an accident that wasn't your fault and incurred personal injury, should you decide to take legal action against that third party, those costs are covered.

Personal Injury Cover

As with car insurance, should you be involved in an incident causing personal injury or a decline in health, you could qualify for a financial pay-out.

Third Party Cover

Protection against costs should you have an accident resulting in the injury of a third party, for example a walking pedestrian.

Bicycle Cover

Vandilism & Accidental Personal Damage

Covering the costs of repair or replacement as a result of personal accidental damage or third part vandilism. Nothing worse than losing out due to someone else's inconsideration!

Temporary Replacement Cover ('Courtesey Bike', If You Will)

Appreciating that cycling is a sole mode of transport, and income in some cases. This will cover the cost of hiring a bicycle temporarily whilst yours is being repaired or replaced.

Theft Cover

Should your bicycle get stolen, this will cover the cost of a replacement. You can also cover accessories and componentry should they be subject to theft.

Things To Bare In Mind?

  • Cycling under the influence of alcohol or drugs will void your cover should you have an accident.
  • Failing to secure your bicycle properly will result in theft, and will void your cover should the worst happen.
  • If an accident occurs during a period of financial gain, for example during a delivery shift, you will not be covered.
  • Purely cosmetic damage repair will not be covered. Damage has to be preventing or affecting the function of the bike to qualify.
  • If your accessories are stolen or damaged without the bicycle being involved, you will not qualify for replacements or repair.

How Can I Maximise Protection & Perhaps Lower My Premium?

Nine times out of Ten, providers will require a security lock of a certain standard, usually varying depending on the value of the bike. Most brands of locks and security gear tend to offer their own ratings, however we recommend a 'Sold Secure' rated lock. Available in podium ranking, you're best off with a GOLD Rated, which might even qualify you for a premium discount!
