E-MTBs are as good as the machine the drive system sits on. This is a very good machine! As with all the AllMtn range in 2021, this is a mullet bike with a 29er front wheel and a 27.5” rear, ensuring nimbleness at the rear and sure footedness on the front. Maxxis Minion tyres can’t be beaten and are a no-brainer on this machine. Everything else is built for top end riding too - definitely for the expert and not the guy or gal with all the gear and no idea!

Let’s look firstly at the suspension and forks. Where it comes to ride quality, a brand new and top of the range Ohlins TTX Air Shock system that has several lock adjustments to allow you to fine-tune your ride. Up front is the TTX18 race-proven fork.

As to the drivetrain, specially developed for all terrain riding, the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS group set is on a wide, 10-51 cassette allowing for a decent ratio selection for uphill and down. It is an electronic gear system, allowing for near-instant gear selection as you change angles on your blast through the trees.

The PW-X2 motor is the top of the range too. Small but blisteringly powerful with up to 80Nm of torque and tuned for good output at high cadence levels, it uses a full size 38t wide-narrow chainring to ensure chain retention. Where it comes to speed control, Haibike have pulled no punches either with the Shimano XTR M9120 disc brakes on 203mm front and rear rotors. As with the ethos of the whole machine, Haibike have used magnesium brake levers to further keep the weight down.

As to range? The fully in-tube 600Wh battery is light yet will give a lot of riding on this top quality machine. It can be charged on or off the bike - perhaps you might buy a second to swap out for an extra few hours enjoying what this uncompromising top end e-MTB can do!
