Either way the entry level HardLife 4.0 electric mountain bike will handle most things the cautious or newbie off-road rider offers up, as well as being a solid road bike between off-road legs.

This series of Haibike eMTBs are built around a woman’s needs. They have a lower frame near the saddle and a slightly more upright riding position.

A Sram XCR drive train has an 11 speed, 11-42 tooth setup that is as big a range as you will find on any electric mountain bike. That means that you can go quick, quick on the flat or downhill but can also reduce your reliance on the motor and battery for the bigger climbs - affording more economical use of the battery and a greater range. On the downhill blasts, do remember that the motor cuts out at 15.5mph so as you pass that speed you’re on your own!

For the bumps on the road and track, a Suntour 120mm travel suspension fork with a lockout will iron out the track for you. A switch on the handlebars allows you to move between the presets - a stiffer ride uphill is good so you put more energy into the wheel as you climb and a softer ride downhill will enable better manoeuvrability as you speed along.

Tektro hydraulic brakes on 180mm rotors will control your speed as you need it, and the 27.5” wheels run on Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres are good for hard and softer surfaces alike.

Bosch CX and Purion eBike power system

The 250 Watt Bosch CX crank motor peaks at 75Nm, kicking like a mule when you need that extra boost. The 500Wh battery on the lowest power setting should give you around 50 miles of conservative riding as you need. The Bosch CX motor is complemented by the Purion control and power system that is smaller yet provides just a few parameters for a quick look as you enjoy your day in the saddle.
