Yamaha PW-ST motor - new for 2020
100 grammes lighter than its 2019 brother, the Yamaha PW-ST is a country mile better. With four cadence sensors in the case, it can deliver power at speeds of more than 100RPM, a limitation of its predecessors.
In addition there is the new ‘auto-mode’ that allows you to leave the bike to decide as to the power setting it needs for different terrains. The unit can also detect how much power to deliver when starting so you don’t have wheel spin or pull a wheelie when you pull away.
This is all controlled with the Yamaha SideSwitch controller that is discreet and doesn’t show you so many parameters you’re distracted from the job at hand - having a blast on the hills!

With its 50 lux, Haibike Skybeamer 150 headlight and AXA Blueline plumbed into the main battery, the Trekking 5.0 is very good for evening and low light riding. These are complemented with nylon front and rear mudguards and a high quality pannier rack.
The 20-speed Shimano Deore XT T800 drivetrain running over an 11-36t cassette will give you all the ratios you need, even while going easy on the battery for those longer runs. Shimano MT400 disc brakes on 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors will stop you well even in a hurry.
63mm travel, SR Suntour NCX D-LO front forks with a remote lockout for different terrains will iron out the bumps, while it is connected to the road on 28 inch, Schwalbe Tyrago K-Guard tyres.
A 500 Watt hour in-tube battery gets the weight into the perfect position, while giving a good 50-60 miles of mixed riding
