How does the scheme work, exactly?

A lot of people may see buying a bicycle out-right as an impossibility, especially after forking out hundreds to cover your car insurance, fuel, repairs, tax…the list goes on. This is exactly why the cycle scheme was initiated in the UK first, back in 1999. An astonishing (and worrying) 36% of Britain’s drive their car to work and back every day, while only 3% cycle – and we want to change this!

Commuting In The UK

The average commute distance in the UK in 2014 was 8.8 Miles daily, taking up to half an hour each way with traffic considered and costing a fortune in fuel throughout a working week. Now, while 4 miles may seem daunting to a lot of people, get pedalling and you’ll soon be. Of course, among us are the heavy-commuters, travelling hours daily either by car or train to reach the big city or attend an important business meeting, ruling them out of the equation, right? Wrong, in fact, these are the prime targets for Cycle Schemes in the UK. With folding and city bikes on the market, cycling to the station and hopping on a train with your transformer-like companion has changed the game, saving you parking and fuel costs while reducing that rush hour traffic stress!
