France is arguably the centre of the cycling universe. Their very culture celebrates individual feats even when part of a team - just look at the Marathon Des Sables ultra marathon across the Sahara Desert, the Vendee Globe solo round the world yacht race, and of course the Paris Roubaix ‘Hell of the North’ and Tour de France cycle races…
The country has moved far beyond the stereotype of the onion seller touring the UK on his rusted old pedal bike, and so has its cycling machines. The Lapierre Overvolt series of electric bikes are as positive a contribution to cycling as the ebike itself was when Lapierre first moved into developing them in 2013.
To ride about town?
You don’t need a beret on your head and a Gauloise fag in your face to set you apart from the crowd when your ride a Lapierre Overvolt road bike around town.
The LaPierre Overvolt Trekking 600 400Wh Mens and Ladies electric bike uses a Bosch Performance 250W motor to flatten out those hills to the point that you could get up the otherwise most frightening hill in your town with a fag in your face and barely out of breath on the top (not that we’d suggest trying). Ease of handling and an efficient pedalling boost are real advantages when facing any situation. Equipped with front and rear panniers you could carry a good few kilos of onions but you can always blend in with the real world with a full set of pannier bags as you tour the famous Alpine and Pyreneean climbs of the Tour de France - or perhaps just carrying a heavy load of paperwork to work?
